As the modern operating room (OR) grows in complexity, the need to simplify for safety increases proportionally. Safety-by-design builds automatic excellence into OR infrastructure to free staff to concentrate on the problem at hand. And so, our design is based on the central observation:
If a risk event is not there, the risk and corresponding problems cannot occur.
Time to remove the booms.
The standard ceiling-mounted forest of booms that contain medical supply units and surgical lights increase the risk of infection and create various physical hazards for staff and patients. It is time to remove them.
Elimination of hose and wire associated risks.
DIOS eliminates boom-mounted supply units, as well as the related cords and hoses running and/or hanging through the room. This removes them as tripping and equipment disconnection hazards.
Removal of direct boom-associated risks.
The complete removal of all types of booms (e.g. lights, monitors, services) from the DIOS OR eliminate them as physical hazards for staff and infection hazards for patients.
Getting rid of clutter associated risks.
DIOS is an integrated whole rather than a collection of parts. By integrating tooling such as lights, monitors, waste receptables and auto-sterilization components into the walls, we eliminate clutter and physical safety hazards.
Automatic patient temperature control and metal detection. Our operating table relays patient temperature trends to the anaesthesiologist and detects metallic devices. This eliminates risks associated with non-optimal patient temperature, retained devices, as well as the physical hazards associated with no longer needed X-ray machines and heating units.
Homogenized single-source control. DATUS Device Bridge software integrates systems and medical devices from any OEM. With every system and device in the OR controlled via a single interface with intuitive and consistent symbology, risks associated with errors due to incoherent user interfaces can be eliminated.
The power to maintain focus and sterility. Our search and pass-through system provides real-time information for requested, delivered, stored, or removed instruments. This system helps avoid surgeons not having help during a complication, and it reduces pathogen introduction, activity disruption, and delay-of-case complications.
